About

Laura Barrett is a freelance illustrator based in South East London. Since graduating from Camberwell College of Arts in 2007 she has been creating intricate silhouette illustrations for a variety of clients. Her work has been commissioned within the fields of publishing, editorial, packaging, advertising and animation.

Influenced by the darker side of folk and fairy tales, Laura's work explores the use of narrative through the medium of silhouette. Although her illustrations are created digitally in Illustrator using a graphics tablet, her work retains a traditional, handcrafted quality.

Laura's work has been featured in Digital Arts, MacUser, Varoom, Inside Out magazine and The Mix Future Interiors.

Laura is represented in the UK by Eye Candy Illustration agency.

The Forest, a wonderfully gothic fairytale written by Hannah Hutchins and designed by Kay Ogundimu was published this month, with all proceeds going to Save the Children.

NEW Etsy store HERE. Following the success of my market stall at Camden every Saturday I have set up an Etsy shop featuring prints and my latest Little Red Riding Hood tote bag design.

I was very happy to be featured in an article about the latest trends in children’s illustration in Digital Arts Magazine. You can read more about the article HERE.
